I just recently moved into a duplex with the intentions of having a canine companion. Preferably, I would like to have a dog that needs a forever home before even being exposed to a shelter. I am not opposed to mixed breeds but I do love Border Collies and German Sheperds but more than that, I have to have a dog that interacts well with other animals, as I have a 10 year old cat (who gets along with other animals) and there are many dogs in my neighborhood that are very friendly and ideally, I would like to socialize my dog with others.

1. I am looking for mainly male dogs but I will keep an open mind.
2. I am not opposed to keeping in contact with the original owners. Visits or e-mails with photos are all good with me.
3. You would have to bring your dog to my home to see how well Riley (my cat) and the dog get along. Im sure youd want to see where your dog is potentially moving to.

I have had dogs most of my life, so I know what it takes as far as love, time and patience. I would not be posting an ad if I had mixed thoughts or unrealistic dreams of having the perfect pet.

In no way do I think that shelters are a bad place and I am thankful that we have them (I adopted Riley from HAWS) but I do know that shelters are limited financially and animals can only be kept for so long. I want to be that alternative choice for one dog.
